Facade installation is wrapping up for a five-story affordable housing project by West San Carlos in San Jose, Santa Clara County. 329 Page Street is poised to add 82 new homes to the city’s housing market a mile from Diridon Station as early as this November. Charities Housing is the project developer.

The 70-foot tall structure will create 81 affordable studios and one unit for on-site staff. A ground-level garage will have parking for 62 cars using triple stackers. Residents will also have access to parking for 82 bicycles, eco-passes to encourage public transit use, and a large community room with an attached kitchen.
A landscaped open space at ground level will offer a relaxing space for residents to grab fresh air while at home, extending a paseo from the south property line to Meridian Park across Page Street. Form/Work is the landscape architect.

The project aims to exceed the state-wide energy efficiency requirements. Of the 81 affordable homes, 27 will be reserved for chronically homeless households.
David Baker Architects is responsible for the eye-catching design, using windows as a decorative element. Wood louvers and awnings will cover three outdoor terraces looking toward Downtown San Jose’s growing skyline. L + D Construction is the project’s general contractor.

The property is located inside the West San Carlos Urban Village, across from Meridian at Midtown, a 218-unit luxury apartment complex developed by Republic Urban Properties, designed by Swenson, and opened in 2015.
Leasing started for the units in May of this year. The opening is expected this November.
