Permits have been filed for YMCA to expand their office footprint into 615 Grant Avenue in Chinatown, San Francisco. The site is between California Street and Sacramento Street.

The plans would convert the upper floors of the structure into office space. The office space’s specific client is the YMCA, which aims to help grow its community presence in the city and add administrative and program office space for the large nonprofit recreation-center business. There is a reason for the YMCA to eye up this location for offices, as a Chinatown location is on the same block, on Sacramento Street.

The building in which the YMCA is hoping to occupy has an intriguing façade, which ties into the neighborhood’s compelling history. Brixton CP 615 Grant, LLC are the current owners of the building, with the filing done through Reuben Law.

No estimated costs for the project have been provided. However, the nearly 20,000 square foot building was purchased in 2019 for $6.5 million.
