Permits have been filed to expand the two structures at 1454-1464 Union Street in Russian Hill, San Francisco. The lots sit between Polk Street and Van Ness Avenue. Future tenants will be near multiple bus connections that can take future residents to downtown San Francisco.

Five permits were filed for each address between 1454 and 1464, but only two buildings will be affected. They describe adding four new additional dwelling units to two buildings and an interior renovation to the existing structures.

The new apartments will replace existing ground floor parking and storage spaces. Three new residencies will be in front of the building, with one in the back. The total unit count will increase from 18 existing homes to 22.

In 2019, the building changed ownership for $7.5 million, according to Estately.com. It is hard to judge what the renovation will cost. Each permit describes a budget of $150,000, but it could also be $300,000 for both structures. Or $750,000 for all five filings. All involved parties were anonymous, so we could not confirm.
