A new multifamily affordable housing has been proposed for development at 1207 North Capitol Avenue in Alum Rock, San Jose. The project proposal includes the construction of a new five-story building offering affordable housing and residential amenities. Plans call for the demolition of an existing single-family residence on the site.

Danco Group is the project developer.

The project site is a parcel spanning an area of 1.5 acres. The scope of work includes the construction of a new five-story affordable housing project offering 129 multifamily units.

The affordable housing project integrates functionality, aesthetics, and community engagement. The building design features a C-shaped footprint, with interconnected open green spaces as communal amenities. The architectural orientation ensures most units receive ample daylight from the West, East, and South, while the courtyard benefits from Southern light. Exterior balconies provide functional outdoor spaces and balance the building’s mass with individual units.

The project includes over 13,000 square feet of communal areas such as lounges, community rooms, fitness facilities, and exterior open spaces. These areas promote physical health, recreation, and socialization, fostering human connections and a strong sense of community.

It is positioned along a major public transportation route, with easy access to a nearby light rail station. The estimated construction timeline has not been announced yet.

  1. San Jose is obsessed with putting apartments on busy streets. Apartment renters deserve quiet streets too!

    • er….. that is known as reducing traffic. Since people live there, the traffic on that particular road goes down proportionally.

You NIMBYs are becoming more ridiculous by the day. Anything to say ‘don’t build something’.

In 7000 BC, your ancestors opposed the invention of agriculture.

  2. This apartment complex is also very near to the Berryessa light rail station, so this complex should have been built 35 years ago. But better late than never.

The fact that Anthony opposes it is solid proof that it will reduce both housing costs and traffic. Anthony is a superb contrarian indicator that a project helps the YIMBY cause.
