Preliminary permits have been filed for a small residential infill at 171-175 Monroe Street in Santa Clara. The project will replace two homes with eight units using Senate Bill 330 to streamline the approval process. Ratnajee Arumilli is listed as the property owner.
The project description calls for eight units spanning 18,930 square feet across four detached units and four attached units. Each residence will include two parking spaces, with two additional guest spaces on the site. One dwelling will be designated as affordable to a lower-income household.
The roughly 0.45-acre project site is on the same block as the Washington Elementary School and Buchser Middle School. Santa Clara University’s campus is a 15-minute walk from the project site. Residents will be a 17-minute bus ride or a ten-minute bike ride away from the Santa Clara Caltrain Station. To the south, Westfield Valley Fair and Santana Row shopping centers can be reached in 15 minutes by bus.
The estimated cost and timeline for construction have yet to be shared.
