Changes Proposed for a Warehouse at 4553 North 1st Street in San Jose

New plans have been submitted for a warehouse project proposed at 4553 North 1st Street in San Jose. The project proposal includes the development of a new warehouse building offering storage space and onsite parking.

Second Harvest of Silicon Valley is listed as the project applicant. ARC Tec Inc is responsible for the designs.

The project site spans an area of 10.5 acres. The scope of work includes the construction of a new warehouse spanning an area of 215,667 square feet. Updated plans submitted to the Planning Commission requested for a reduction in the floor area. Named Second Harvest Distribution Center, the warehouse will offer increased vehicle parking; from 161 to 315 and bicycle parking from 14 to 21 spaces.

The warehouse will rise to a height of 46 feet. Additional, updates include changes in the location of the truck loading docks and the facades of the proposed building.

The current proposed project also includes two emergency generators with capacities of 1,500 kilowatts (kW) each, compared to the approved project two emergency generators with capacities of 3,000 kilowatts kW and 600 kW. The generators would be
located to the rear (south) of the proposed buildings.

Previously, the warehouse was supposed to yield a total space spanning 249,230 square feet. At this time, increase in the number of employees, volunteers, vehicles, trucks or trips have not been proposed for the approved project.

The project site is located in the Alviso area of the northern part of San José. The site is on the west side of North First Street, north of State Route 237. Construction of the warehouse is estimated to occur over a period of 18 months
