A new preliminary application has been filed for the construction of a multi-unit building at 155 Jefferson Drive in Menlo Park. The project would involve the demolition and removal of a single-story concrete building and the replacement with an eight-story multifamily building. The application relies on Senate Bill 330 to justify the significant densification of the property.

The building would contain a total of 194 units, with as many as 29 units being designated affordable. Exact plans on the layout and proposed details have not yet been made publicly available, but the listing information indicates a podium-style building of approximately 89 feet at its highest point.

The building will also include 194 parking spaces, allocating a one-to-one ratio for parking to housing. The parking will certainly be needed, as the site’s location is not readily walkable or accessible by public transit. Instead, it has excellent access to both the Bayshore Freeway and the Dumbarton Bridge, giving future residents an easy drive to anywhere they would like to go.

  1. This location is at least very close to the Meta campus, so hopefully some of the new residents work there and enjoy walking commutes. But yeah, this whole area on the Bay side of 101 has been getting lots of housing developments but doesn’t have any decent transit or neighborhood-serving retail.
