A new affordable residential project has been approved at 2330 Monroe Street in Santa Clara. The project proposal includes the development of a three-story building featuring residential units on a vacant property lot.
Freebird Development Co. is the project applicant. HKIT Architects is responsible for the design of the project.
The project site is a city-owned parcel spanning an area of 2.47 acres. The approved project will bring a new single building rising to a height of three stories. The residential building will offer 65 residential units offered as affordable housing. The units will be built as a mix of studios, one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and three-bedroom units. All units within the project will be deed restricted for affordable housing, including 25% of the units set aside for intellectually and/or developmentally disabled persons.
Renderings of the structure show a modern facade. It will be a mix of painted wood and different colored cladding. The cladding will be colored navy blue and white, while the wooden materials will see different shades of blue and a polished orange color.
Architecture review is pending for the project and a virtual meeting will be held on March 30, 2022, detials of which can be found here. The site sits at the intersection of Monroe Street and San Tomas Expressway.
