Development permits have been submitted seeking the approval of a remodeling project at 615 Grant Avenue in Chinatown, San Francisco. The project proposal includes the renovation of the interiors to create modern offices.
Gelfand Partners Architects Inc is responsible for the design concepts. Chinatown Community Development Center (CCDC) is the property owner.
Permits were for YMCA to expand their office footprint on the site. The plans proposed to convert the upper floors of the structure into office space. YMCA aims to help grow its community presence in the city and add administrative and program office space for the large nonprofit recreation-center business. The building in which the YMCA is hoping to occupy has an intriguing façade, which ties into the neighborhood’s compelling history. Brixton CP 615 Grant, LLC are the current owners of the building, with the filing done through Reuben Law.
The building was purchased in 2019 for $6.5 million. A meeting will be held by Planning Commission in October. The site sits between California Street and Sacramento Street.
