A new residential project celebrated its inauguration at 3135 Medina Common in Fremont. The project proposal includes the construction of a housing complex dedicated to residential spaces for low-income families and unhoused individuals. A grand opening celebration with a ribbon cutting ceremony was held yesterday, May 15, 2023.
Eden Housing and For the Future Housing are the project developers working in partnership with the City of Fremont.
3135 Medina Common via Eden Housing
Named Granite Ridge Apartments, the townhouse-style community brings 73 apartments for rent at low and affordable rates, for previously unhoused individuals and families. The apartments are designed as a mix of 32 one-bedroom, 22 two-bedroom, and 19 three-bedroom floor plans. Onsite amenities are inclusive of a community center, computer lab, playground, on-site laundry facility, bicycle storage, covered parking and more.
Households earning 20% to 60% of the area’s median income will be eligible to apply for rented housing at Grante Ridge Apartments. Eden Housing is also providing resident services offerings such as wellness, career, education and financial literacy programs.
The apartment complex is situated near Sequoia Road and Paseo Padre Parkway. The celebration took place as a part of May’s National Affordable Housing Month. Participants included Lily Mei, Mayor of the city of Fremont, David Haubert, Alameda County Supervisor, Field Representative of the Staff of Aisha Wahab, Senator, Raj Salwan, Councilmember of the City of Fremont, locals, and others.
Funding for the apartments was generated by County of Alameda, California Tax Credit Allocation Committee, Hudson Capital, Capital One, California Community Reinvestment Corporation.
Submitted applications will be placed into a lottery. Applications now have been closed. A waiting list was established based on the results of the lottery and the ranking order of the applications.
