Demolition permits have been filed for a portion of CityView Mega development in downtown San Jose. The project proposal includes the development of a tech office campus at 170 Park Center Plaza, featuring retail and office space. Plans call for the demolition of existing buildings and the removal of twenty trees.
Jay Paul Company is the project developer. Gensler is responsible for the design concepts and construction.
The project site spans 8.1 acres, offering 3.8 million square feet of rentable space, and six nineteen-story office towers. CityView brings together the bustle of a high-performing urban environment and the privacy of suburban areas. CityView’s recreation space, SkyParks, provides outdoor rooftop terraces spanning an area of 85,000 square feet will be designed. The development will offer an 80,000 square-foot world-class fitness facility.
Plans reveal one-of-a-kind double-story interconnected bridges and expansive floor plates with a variety of rich amenities in almost two acres of space.
The proposed design is LEED Gold certified, and the developers are taking measures to reduce site carbon emission, water, and HVAC heat rejection. In addition, the design and development of CityView prioritize the health and well-being of building occupants by achieving Fitwel certification.
The property site sits within walking distance to future Bart stations, existing Lightrail, and San Jose’s downtown residential housing opportunities.
The construction is estimated to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2024.

hmmm… creating suburbs in what should be the urban core. this is a good thing?
no mention in the article that this is also a 15-min walk (less on transit) to existing Caltrain!
with six – six! – levels of parking in one of the few locations in all of San Jose that you can say has decent transit access
suburban office buildings don’t go this high, not in the Bay Area anyway. So no, there isn’t any “suburb” here in this urban core. In fact, these 3 buildings will be the tallest office buildings in SJ’s uran core.
Don’t worry about the parking. Even SF highrises in financial district has parking garages, so SJ having parking garages is par for the course. You wouldn’t be able to lease out any office here in the South Bay if you don’t provide parking. This is reality.
