Permits have been filed seeking the approval of a new education center at 6323 San Pablo Avenue in Oakland. The project proposal includes the development of affordable housing within a non-profit center that offers spaces for education, recreation, and community engagement.

Ecotopia LLC is listed as the property owner. Shan Design is responsible for the designs.

The project site is a parcel spanning an area of 24,000 square feet at 1121 64th Street in Oakland. The scope of work includes the addition of affordable housing to an existing education center. PLACE (People Linking Art Community & Ecology) is a non-profit educational center, maker space and community resource for healing, organizing, regenerative design and affordable housing. PLACE spans an area of 1,315 square feet.

Applicant seeks to create a Vehicular Residential Facility to create affordable housing dwellings. The initiative is taken to address the housing crisis in the Bay Area.

The project application has been submitted and is pending review and approval. The estimated construction timeline has not been announced yet.
