A new permanent housing project has been proposed for development at 9418 Edes Avenue in Oakland. The project proposal includes the construction of 40 modular homes available as permanent housing.
DignityMoves and Housing Consortium of the East Bay are the project developers.
The city of Oakland awarded $14.3 million to build the project. The project is Oakland’s ninth Homekey project and will offer 40 permanent supportive housing units for unhoused seniors. Named The Dignity Village Oakland project, the project will be the first Homekey development to feature new construction on vacant City-owned land. The 40 modular units will be constructed off-site and then transported to the parcel.
The project site is located one block away from the Brookfield Library, the Ira Jinkins Community Center, and the William Patterson Park, making plenty housing and community services available for the residents. Housing Consortium of the East Bay will both manage the property and act as the service provider.
It was reported that Governor Gavin Newsom announced additional grant awards from the third round of Homekey. The program now supports a total of 467 affordable units for people facing housing challenges.
The estimated construction timeline has not been announced yet.

Also project is located by the 8480 – 8484 Lao Family Community Development’s 285-room Care Campus (former Motel 6). Also, I believe there is a DMV right there. The housing is great, the lasting benefit grows from the project work being undertaken by the agencies and non- profits on sight. Best of luck!
