The formal application has been submitted for the dual-tower development at 5727 College Avenue in Rockridge, Oakland. The proposal now seeks to replace the Trader Joe’s grocery store with a shorter 26-story senior housing tower, including a potential grocery store facing BART and additional retail along College Avenue. Align Real Estate is the project applicant filing on behalf of the property owner, Albertsons.
A new Zoning Worksheet was filed for the site of the former Holy Names University Campus at 3500 Mountain Boulevard in Oakland. This project was first reported on by SF YIMBY in February of this year, when it initially filed for expedited consideration under Senate Bill 330. The new filing this summer will mark the start of their formal application for the project, carrying over many of the same plans as the earlier submission. BH Properties and Tidewater Capital are still the site’s developers.
New permits were filed proposing the merger of several parcels and the construction of a new four-story apartment building located at 5139 MacArthur Boulevard in Oakland. The property is being called Mills Grove due to its close proximity to the historic Mills College at Northeastern Campus. The most recent permits appear to be a modification to previous permits filed at 5091 MacArthur Boulevard earlier this year.
Crews are making progress on a four-story mixed-use complex at 6501 Shattuck Avenue in Bushrod, North Oakland. Concrete is passing the first floor as construction is moving ahead for 18 apartments above a large ground-floor retail space. Magganas Properties is responsible for the development, filing through Bruder LLC.
A building worksheet has been submitted for the ongoing proposal at 430 Broadway in Oakland. Last reported on by SF YIMBY in December of 2025, the development plans have since progressed past interim site projects and is now ready to move forward with major building plans.
