A preliminary application has been submitted seeking the approval of a mixed-use commercial project proposed at 2535 High Street in Jefferson, Oakland. The project proposal includes the construction of a new building science and community center.

The scope of work includes merging four parcels and demolishing an existing 804-square-foot property, and a 2,800-square-foot Brookdale Recreation Center. The project site will be developed with a new science and community center spanning an area of 7,000 square feet.

The project will also improve ballfield surfacing, park lighting, ADA pathways, fencing, a tot lot, and add a new dog park/dog run, community garden, small staff parking lot, and picnic area.

The project application needs to be reviewed and approved. The estimated project timeline has not been announced yet.

    I like the existing building. It can’t just be expanded?

  2. I am very concerned about the impact of visitors on the surrounding neighborhood, as in lack of parking. It is a big problem now without any improvements . A parking lot for staff will not solve the problem.
