Preliminary permits have been filed for hundreds of homes to replace the Walnut Creek Executive Park, a large office campus around 2775 Mitchell Drive in Walnut Creek, Contra Costa County. The filing provides the first inkling about a new community named the Mitchell Drive Townhomes, surrounded by strip malls and suburban sprawl.

The initial plan aims to create around 422 units on the 22.2-acre parcel, reaching a density of 19 units per acre. CBG will be consulting for engineering. The sparse application does not provide any additional information about the plans, though it’s safe to assume the structures will rise between two to three floors and supply at least one parking space per unit.

Signature Development Group is listed as the project applicant, filing on behalf of the owner, California Capital & Investment Group. The property was sold by the Koll Company in July of 2022 for $49.6 million. California Capital & Investment Group paid roughly $110 per square foot of the 449,200 square foot property.

The office center property is bound by Oak Grove Road, Oak Grove Road, Shadelands Drive, and Mitchell Drive. Future residents will be close to several strip malls offering groceries, shops, restaurants, and other amenities. Several schools are within walking distance of the campus, ranging from elementary to High Schools.

The firm has yet to reply to a request for comment.

For the love of god, please minimize surface parking lots and add open space and/or retails.

Wish there was some ways to preserve or move existing trees though.

  2. the additional traffic on Ygnacio Blvd and those side streets is going to suck for everyone in Walnut Creek

  3. That is simply absurd! We can not handle the additional traffic! And how can the schools handle it! Lets stop this!
