Developers for a project at 3724 Astoria Street in Sacramento have submitted applications for a design review of plans for three new structures at the site. While full plan details have not yet been made public, preliminary information indicates plans to build 42 new residential units across the three buildings.
The project will require the demolition of the existing residential structures, making way for the significantly larger replacement buildings. The development plans to use a density bonus application to push through a higher residential density than previously approved for the site.
The neighborhood around the site is largely residential and comparatively low-density, but the increased transportation needs for the units are supported by nearby access to the Interstate 80 freeway and local bus lines along Grand Avenue. Developers have not specified plans for parking, but the multibuilding layout suggests either private garage or surface-level parking options to be available on site.
