Permits have been filed for the residential expansion of 2390 Chestnut Street in the neighborhood of Cow Hollow in the Marina District, San Francisco. The permit calls for the interior renovation of the structure along with six additional dwelling units, increasing the density of the structure. The apartments will replace what is currently used as storage and garage space.
The site is between Divisadero Street and Scott Street, and just three blocks from the sprawling Presidio of San Francisco. The apartments will make more space by a commercial thoroughfare along Chestnut Street, one of a few spots with retail density in the area. Though no rail transit access is offered nearby, bus connections can be made, bringing passengers to Downtown San Francisco where transfers are offered.
2390 Chestnut is an attractive structure. Numerous bay windows run up the height of the structure. A detailed cornice is located on the top, giving a grand look to the building. Garage doors make up the ground floor, likely the location of the future dwelling units. The building last sold in 2004 for $6.5 million, with assessors now placing its estimated value at $7.35 million.
An estimated completion date for the project is not known.
