A project located at 400 Bay Street in San Francisco’s North Beach neighborhood was previously approved for development in 2015. However, the building was never built, and the site has remained vacant. However, a new proposal would piggyback on the previously obtained environmental approvals for the site to bring a new and only slightly modified hotel project to the site.

The proposal is for a small 16-room hotel to be built on the corner of Bay and Mason. The building will reach a height of four stories and a total area of just above 12,000 square feet. This plan is a reduction in size from the previous project, while an increase in the number of units previously proposed. However, there should be no significant change to the environmental impact of the project.

The new project makes no changes to parking or loading areas compared to the previous project. Both projects rely on the high walkability of the location with nearby access to numerous shops, restaurants, and entertainment options. The North Beach/Fisherman’s Wharf Area of San Francisco is served by numerous bus, streetcar, and cable car options to the benefit of visitors staying at the hotel.

  1. the apostrophe in that title pains my soul

  2. I live nearby and wish they would make that housing since we already have so many hotels in that area.
