New permits have been filed for a residential infill at 5230 Folsom Boulevard in East Sacramento. The plan could replace a low-slung commercial structure and surface parking with over five dozen homes near the California State University Sacramento campus. A project developer was not associated with the application.
The applicant describes their proposal as for “high-quality apartments over ground floor commercial space, and parking.” There will be 67 homes and a capacity for 50 cars in the ground-level garage.
The property is located between 52nd and 53rd Street along Folsom Boulevard. Future residents will be close to the Camellia Center strip mall with a grocery store, pharmacy, and other retail. The surrounding area offers the East Portal Park and East Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery. For transit, residents will be close to the Golden Line light rail.
The permit application estimated that construction will cost around $15 million, though the real price tag is likely to be much more.
