A new residential project has been proposed for development at 6341 Shattuck Avenue in Bushrod in Oakland. The project proposal includes the construction of a new three-story building offering spaces for retail, residential, and parking uses. The plans will replace the existing Subway restaurant with homes and retail spaces.
Mr. Navdeep Grewal, a Pleasanton-based individual, is listed as the project developer. SKL Architecture is responsible for the designs.
The project site is a parcel that spans an area of 0.16 acres. The scope of work includes the construction of a new three-story mixed-use building offering two retail spaces on the first floor with a parking garage, along with 14 residential units. The residential units are proposed as a mix of studios and one-bedroom floor plans on the second and third floors. Out of the total, 30% of the multi-family units will be set as low-income units. Surface parking is provided for six parking spaces, two motorcycle spaces, and 16 bicycle spaces in a covered garage. Common outdoor space is provided on the second floor.
A fresh set of renderings was revealed for the multi-family housing project. Rendering reveal construction of CMU walls and steel framed floors on the first floor. The building facade will rise to a height of 31 feet, and yield a total built-up area of 16,260 square feet. The upper two stories are in wood framed construction.
The property site is situated at the intersection of Shattuck Avenue and Alcatraz Avenue. The Ashby BART Station is located a ten-minute walk away. Downtown Oakland is less than twenty minutes away via bus. The estimated construction timeline has not been announced yet.
