New updated permits have been filed for an affordable senior housing project at 2125 Telegraph Avenue, Downtown Oakland. The project proposal includes the development of an eight-story housing complex offering 100% affordable units to seniors.
Mercy Housing is the project developer. Gensler is responsible for the design concepts. PGAdesign is responsible for landscape architecture.

The scope of work includes the construction of 97 100% residential units into an eight-story apartment complex. The building will yield a total residential built-up area spanning 55,000 square feet. The complex will offer a courtyard and a rooftop terrace. The ground floor will house the property management office, supportive offices, community room, kitchen, laundry, and bicycle parking space.
The primary use of the building will be affordable housing for senior citizens and will include property management offices, support services, community room, laundry, kitchen and bicycle parking areas. Off-street automobile parking is not being provided.

The building facade will rise to a height of 85 feet. Renderings reveal exterior finished in red brick and white stone with construction in composite fiber cement. Black-painted aluminum fins frame both the windows and the white stucco-clad massing. The ground level, in contrast, is wrapped with a curtainwall system.

The construction costs for the project are estimated at $40,000,000. The project has moved forward as preliminary applications were filed early in 2021. The estimated construction timeline has still not been announced yet.
