The paperwork for a new development permit was filed for 1719 86th Avenue in East Oakland. The project, designed by Kesete Kifle, includes the construction of a new two-story duplex in the rear yard portion of the lot, behind the existing single-family home. The 26-foot-tall new construction will add 2329 square feet of enclosed space to the 5320 square foot parcel.
Both of the new units will have three bedrooms, complimented by two and three bathrooms. The new building will also include an outdoor patio area and dry well. An extended driveway will lead to two parking spaces for the duplex to share.
The Webster neighborhood of East Oakland is generally comprised of low-density single-family housing, but lots with extra space available have taken advantage of incentives to increase density through the addition of ADUs on site. The neighboring lot at 1725 86th Avenue has a similar development to the one being proposed for 1719 86th Avenue.
