A new mixed-use project in San Mateo took another step forward with the release of a CEQA notice of determination earlier this week. The project located at 435 East 3rd Avenue would construct a 39,893-square-foot building bringing both housing and office space to the area. Developers at MECHA Ventures are collaborating with architects ARC TEC on the project.

The planned building is a five-story, with 33,500 square feet of office space on the four bottom levels and five residential units located on the top floor. The building exterior will consist of an ornamental brick façade for the first three levels and a white stucco exterior for the top two. The fourth and fifth floors will be terraced with outdoor areas.

The project’s location is in Downtown San Matteo, only two blocks from the Caltrain station. In addition to this development, the area has seen a number of new projects, including both residential amenities and retail. The high degree of walkability for the neighborhood will help mitigate the building’s lack of provided parking.
