New building permits have been filed for a four-story residential proposal at 3131 Homestead Road, Santa Clara, to expand Laguna Clara Apartments. 225 units will be added to the existing site to nearly double housing. Equity Residential is responsible for the development.
The Laguna Clara Apartments, in its existing condition, contains 264 dwelling units. Construction proposes to remove five buildings and partially demolish another. Forty-two apartments and 83 parking stalls will be raised to make way for a 225-unit structure. Once complete, 447 units will be available on-site, with a whopping 737 vehicle parking stalls and 75 bicycle spots.
BDE Architecture is responsible for the design.
The 43-foot structure will yield a total of 315,770 square feet, including 182,040 square feet of rentable housing, 6,260 square feet for amenities, and 75,870 square feet for parking. Of the 225 new units, 46 will be studio-sized, 135 will be one-bedroom, and 44 will be two-bedroom.
Guzzardo Partnership Inc. is responsible for the landscaping. Documents show a broad array of trees, shrubs, ground covering, and vines are to be used across the board to help landscape a significant amount of outdoor space, with just 46% of the parcel covered by development. Maple trees, Palm trees, Magnolias, and Oak trees will be among the subjects to grow.
The address is just twelve minutes from the Santa Clara Central Park by foot. The public space is surrounded by a public library, retail, an elementary school, and baseball fields.
An estimated completion date has not been announced.
