Permits were filed for seeking approval for an apartment building at 2400 Filbert Street in McClymonds, West Oakland. The project proposal includes constructing an apartment building with 87 units with a parking garage. This new four-story development will replace a warehouse building. Levy Design Partners is managing the design concepts and construction of the project.

Applications also revealed permits filed seeking the approval of a major CUP and design review to convert a part of the existing warehouse into ten work-and-live units and demolish the remaining commercial facility and construct the fifty-feet high apartment building.

Out of the 87 units, ten are featured as work-and-live units, twelve are affordable units, and sixty-five are market-rate units. The residential building facade is set to rise to four stories high. The total area is 140, 245 square feet. The entire residential area is 91, 272 square feet. Sixty-seven bicycle and eighty-eight vehicle parking spaces will be located at the ground level. An open space spanning over 9,200 square feet is also proposed on the second floor.

The average unit floor area is 1,049 square feet. The total area designated for parking is 26,711 square feet, and 1,155 square feet is reserved for decks. The structure’s design and architecture showcase corrugated mental sidings that compliment the historic industrial nature of the neighborhood, and the building’s mass is in coherence with the neighboring residential development.
The estimated date of project completion has not been revealed yet.
