A pre-screening review application has been filed for a five-story residential development at 3150 El Camino Real in Palo Alto, Santa Clara County. The project would add 129 new units to the Silicon Valley housing market, including some affordable housing. Acclaim Companies is the project developer.
The 54-foot tall building will yield 134,520 square feet, covering 61% of the 45,500 square foot parcel. Of the 129 apartments, 26 will be priced as affordable housing. There will be 33 studios, 60 one-bedroom units, and 37 two-bedroom units. A 2,800 square foot space will be added along El Camino Real for street-level commercial retail. Two basement levels will create a 168-car garage.
Sherry Scott Architects is responsible for the design. The facade is articulated to break up the massing. Five gabled sections along the west face will be angled toward the vista, providing great views for the residents.
The property is just under a mile walk from the California Avenue Caltrain Station, connecting future residents with San Francisco and San Jose. Residents will also find themselves near the existing retail avenue around the train station. Construction will include the demolition of a low-rise retail structure and surface parking.
The development is adjacent to a proposed four-story hotel at 3200 El Camino Real, a proposed hotel, and across the street from 3001 El Camino Real, a proposed four-story retail and apartment building.
