Development permits have been filed seeking the approval of a multi-family residential building at 233 Broadway in Jack London Square, Oakland. The project proposal includes the development of a residential building offering market-rate and affordable units.
Riaz Capital is responsible for the design concepts and construction.
Plans call for remodeling a four-story hotel into a new residential building. The project will bring 130 new market-rate and affordable dwelling units. The residences will be offered as a mix of 117 market-rate and 13 moderate-rate affordable units. The existing 60-stall ground-floor parking garage will be converted to new 25 units, and the upper 104 hotel rooms will be converted into 105 units. The altered parking garage will have a total of 33 parking spaces.
The proposal also includes exterior and interior alterations and a Subdivision/Parcel Map Waiver to adjust the property line of two lots. One of the existing lots contains the hotel, uncovered parking lot, a portion of a commercial building, and the other lot contains the remaining portion of the commercial building.
The project is under review, and an estimated construction timeline has not been announced yet. The project site is also bound by 2nd, 3rd, and Washington Streets in Downtown Oakland.
