Demolition permits have been filed for the existing building at 6501 Shattuck Avenue in Bushrod, North Oakland. The plans would replace a vacant single-story commercial structure with a four-story mixed-use infill. Moshe Dinar of Dinar & Associates is responsible for the design.
The 43-foot tall structure will yield 25,310 square feet with 15,780 square feet for residential use, 1,980-square feet for the ground-floor retail, and 710 square feet for a roof deck with views across the neighborhood. Of the 18 units, there will be six studios, six one-bedroom units, and six two-bedroom units. The retail space at the base is expected to contain a cafe or small restaurant.
Future residents of 6501 Shattuck will be a short walk to the Ashby BART station. AC Transit buses will be accessible along Woolsey Street or Alcatraz Avenue.
Bruder, LLC is the property owner. An estimated cost and construction timeline has not yet been established.
