A new residential project has been proposed for development at 2555 College Avenue in Berkeley. The project proposal includes the development of a four-story residential building offering both market-rate and affordable units. Plans call for the demolition of an existing auto maintenance garage, parking area, and convenience store.
Trachtenberg Architects is responsible for the designs.
The project site is a vacant parcel spanning 4,000 square feet. The project will construct a four-story residential building spanning an area of 10,024 square feet. The building will offer eleven housing units, reserving 14 percent of the base project units for very-low-income households.
The project will also provide 20 bicycle parking spaces: 16 covered long-term, and four short-term spaces on sidewalk-mounted bicycle racks. The building facade will rise to a height of 47 feet.
The site is located near public transportation, downtown services, and existing parking garages, and will provide housing near the University of California Berkeley campus.

This is a disappointment. Trachtenberg Architects, you are better than this. If this is what you are starting to crank out now, you have too many projects on your hands and need to hand of some of these smaller projects. This deserves a better effort imo.
Needs frontage on College & Parker for this to be viable.
Disgraceful inappropriate project, not enough parking fur residential high tax paying homes already.
You call yourselves Architects ? Not suited to this heritage district at all.
Embarrassed for you !
