The project involves the proposed acquisition of the sites from the current owner. The existing buildings are mainly used for senior care facilities known as The Village at Hayes Valley. There is a vacant retail space located on the ground floor of 624 Laguna Street. The Department of Public Health intends to use 601-617 Laguna Street as a Dual Diagnosis care facility for the top floor of 601-617 Laguna Street and to convert the ground floor into transitional housing for at risk youths. Across the intersection, 624 Laguna Street will maintain its purpose as a residential care facility.

A project application has been submitted, and is pending reviews and approval. The estimated construction timeline has not been announced yet.
