The 50-foot tall proposal will yield around 52,130 square feet with 32,750 square feet for housing, 930 square feet for retail, and 13,880 square feet for the basement garage. Parking will be included for 32 cars and 34 bicycles. Unit sizes will vary, with nine studios, 13 one-bedrooms, and three two-bedrooms. Of the 25 apartments, 15 will be for independent living, nine for assisted living, and one for the owner’s residence.

The ground level includes a lobby with a center sculpture, leading into a large community lounge connected to a Redwood courtyard, library, and restrooms. The rest of the first floor will have some assisted living studios and the nurse’s office. The 0.44-acre property is by the intersection of San Antonio Road and East Charleston Road, near various low-slung commercial structures, strip malls, and the new Moldaw Residences apartment complex. One of the local shopping centers, the Charleston Plaza, was purchased by Presidio Bay in early 2022. The San Antonio Caltrain Station is just eight minutes away by bicycle or 24 minutes on foot.
