New renderings have been published alongside a notice for public input regarding the two-building infill at 1354 and 1356 York Street on the southern edge of San Francisco’s Mission District neighborhood. The plan will replace an industrial structure with six homes. Atlas Property Group is the project developer.

RG Architecture is responsible for the design. Illustrations show a sleek contemporary facade with gable roofing and boxy bay windows overlooking York Street. Exterior materials will include board and batten siding, white stucco, and fiber cement siding. The two 40-foot buildings will rise to four floors with parking for three bicycles and three cars in both garages. Unit sizes will vary with Four four-bedrooms and two three-bedrooms, each around 1,420 square feet each.

The principal of Atlas Property Group, Yosef Tahbazof, recently made the news after resigning from San Francisco’s Assessment Appeals Board following a San Francisco Standard report on Tahbazof’s involvement with a loan from a developer to the former building inspector, Bernie Curran. Curran was sentenced earlier this year after pleading guilty to accepting illegal payments. Tahbazof stepped down after Board of Supervisors President Aaron Peskin called on him to do so. Tahbazof is an attorney for Tahbazof Law Firm and principal for the Atlas Property Group development firm.

Residents will be 15 minutes away from the 24th Street BART Station on foot. The estimated timeline for construction has yet to be revealed. Each structure is expected to cost around $1 million to build, a figure not including all development costs.

  1. Great more housing in a transit rich area. Possibly More bedrooms and or another small unit by elimination of the unnecessary car parking.

  2. What’s with all the drab colors?
