New development permits have been submitted seeking the approval of a new housing project at 3736 Stockton Boulevard in Oak Park, Sacramento. The project proposal includes the construction of a mixed-use building offering spaces for residential and retail uses.

The scope of work includes the construction of a housing project offering 75 multi-family units. More information on the project’s design time is yet to be released. Stay tuned to SFYIMBY.com for more such projects.

An SB330 preliminary application has been filed and is under review. Senate Bill 330, or SB 330, has been an important law to make it more difficult for city and town governments to stonewall the construction of new housing if it meets a certain level of affordable housing. As written in the law, SB 330, “prohibits a local agency from disapproving, or conditioning approval in a manner that renders infeasible, a housing development project for very low, low-, or moderate-income households or an emergency shelter unless the local agency makes specified written findings based on a preponderance of the evidence in the record.”

Sacramento City Council has approved 20 locations for homeless shelters, tiny homes and sanctioned tent encampments to help serve 2,209 people. The project site is a part of this larger project.

The project application lists construction costs as $14 million. The estimated construction timeline has not been announced yet. The project site is located at the corner of Stockton Boulevard and 13th Avenue.

  1. Will this be transitional housing? One step forward, two steps back for Stockton Boulevard.

  2. There are enough slum lords on 13th Avenue. Will this housing be monitored so that the current issue does not continue how is this development going to improve the neighborhood and why is all of the mutual housing going into oak park Stockton blvd.

  3. Why don’t we make one of these lots a tiny home project for the homeless In our community. I would really like to hear council member katie maple Thoughts on this subject.
