Modified plans have been filed for an affordable housing complex at 1515 I Street in the Mansion Flats neighborhood of Sacramento. The seven-story application has shaved off a floor, while the overall unit count will increase compared to the 2025-approved iteration. Community Housing Works is the property owner responsible for the application.

The seven-story building is expected to produce 90 units alongside offices for the property management, residential amenities, and a common ground-floor outdoor courtyard. Residential laundry rooms will be spread on floors two through seven.

Further information about the updated development has not yet been shared. The previous iteration would have included 84 affordable units across an eight-story structure designed by Mogavero Architects. Renderings show the outdated project featuring a mid-structure split to visually obfuscate the structure’s massing. Five months ago, the project team was awarded $25.8 million from the SacRT’s Housing and Sustainable Communities funding.

The roughly 0.4-acre property is located on a block bound by I Street, Historic Alley, 15th Street, and 16th Street. Future residents would live around the corner from the California Governor’s Mansion.
