Renovation has been proposed for an existing hotel at 8400 Edes Avenue in Coliseum Industrial, Oakland. The project proposal includes the renovation of a Radisson Hotel to offer affordable housing along with onsite supportive services and manager units.

Oakland Alameda Hotels LLC is the property owner. Banta Design is responsible for the designs.

The project site is a parcel spanning an area 5.2 acres. The scope of work includes the renovation of the existing Radisson Hotel spanning an area of 128,364 square feet to offer 288 units as 100% affordable units. The hotel currently has two buildings; one six-story building and another two-story building. The renovated hotel will also offer onsite supportive services and managers’ units. The project also calls for interior renovations including installation of kitchenettes in each unit. No exterior and landscaping work have been proposed.

The project site has frontages toward Edes Avenue, with Interstate 880 highway running adjacent to it. Zoning permits and a project application have been submitted for review by Oakland Planning Commission. The estimated construction timeline has not been announced yet.

  1. Interesting to see a large housing development proposed near the airport. I always thought there could be some potential here with zoning changes for a dense, Emeryville-esque neighborhood filling the lots and gaps between the aiport, colliseum bart and MLK shoreline park.
