New renderings have been published for the six-story residential infill at 3720 Telegraph Avenue in Mosswod, Oakland. The project will bring dozens of permanent supportive housing to the low-slung motel at the corner of Telegraph and West MacArthur Boulevard. Danco Group is the project sponsor.

The project will create 46 units, including one market-rate unit for the on-site manager. The remaining 45 units will be designated as affordable to extremely low-income households earning less than 30% of the area’s median income. The 72-foot tall structure is expected to yield 37,060 square feet, including 20,500 square feet for housing and 1,000 square feet of office space. Unit types will vary with 38 studios, 7 one-bedrooms, and one two-bedroom. Parking will be included for seven cars and 56 bicycles.

The ground level floor will include a large lobby, parking, and maintenance rooms. On the second floor, residents will get access to a furnished community room, laundry room, and a landscaped podium-top deck. The second floor will include the office space for property manager, social service providers, and a conference room.

HKIT Architects is responsible for the design. Illustrations show a bare facade carved by inset floor-to-ceiling windows and lime-green highlights. The exterior will be clad with cement plaster, board-formed concrete, and wood-look fiber cement panels.

The quarter-acre parcel is located at the corner of Telegraph Avenue and West MacArthur Boulevard. The site is just a block from the busy MacArthur BART Station. Residents will look toward The Skylyne, a 25-story apartment tower built next to the transit station in 2020.

Preliminary permits were filed in January to invoke Senate Bill 330. The estimated cost and timeline for construction have yet to be established.

Good use for a site so close to BART, but yeah, it has that “prison chic” look
