New plans have surfaced to bring an additional thirty units to an existing gated apartment community at 935 Willowleaf Drive in Sherman Oaks, San Jose. The property owner has filed plans to replace the tennis court and surrounding trees with a four-story building. Decron Properties is the property manager and owner through DP Willow Glen Investors, LP.
The proposal will increase the residential capacity from 208 to 238 units. Tenants will still have access to around 23,800 square feet of common space, including a dog park, pool, lawn area, and playground. Within the four-story infill, unit types will vary, with 12 studios, 12 one-bedrooms, and six lofts. Twelve trees will be removed during construction, with 24 new trees to be planted.
Details about the design have not been shared. The design will likely complement the gabled roofs, stucco, and wood panels featured on the existing two-story attached townhomes in Willow Creek Apartments.
The 11.73-acre apartment site is located along Leight Avenue between Fruitdale Avenue and Southwest Expressway, a few blocks from the San Jose City College campus. Future residents will be around twenty minutes from Diridon Station via light rail or ten minutes from Santana Row via bicycle.
