Development permits have been filed seeking the approval of a new affordable housing project at 8301 MacArthur Boulevard in Eastmont, Oakland. The project proposal includes the construction of a new five-story building offering 82 dwelling units as affordable housing.
Philip Banta of Banta Design is listed as the project applicant. V23 Investments LLC is listed as the owner.
The project site spans an area of 0.5 acres. The scope of work includes the construction of a 100% affordable housing project rising five stories high and offering 82 units. Out of the total, one manager’s unit will also be a part of the project. 81 units will be available as affordable housing units, designed as a mix of studios, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom floor plans. All units will come equipped with full bathroom, kitchen, living and sleeping areas.
Parking for 30 vehicles will be provided at podium covered garage, along with 46 spaces for bicycle storage. The project also proposes landscaped backyard open space, a roof deck garden, and individual deck balconies for each unit.
Renderings reveal a four-story structure designed on top of a single-story podium in modular construction.
The project site is a vacant parcel along a busy thoroughfare. Residents will be a five-minute bus ride from the Eastmont Town Center, a shopping mall and social services hub on the northern edge of the Eastmont neighborhood. The estimated construction timeline has not been revealed yet.
