Preliminary permits have been filed to construct a new structure within the Seneca Family of Agencies medical center at 8945 Golf Links Road, Oakland. The added facility will provide bedrooms for the Children’s Crisis Residential Program run by the non-profit. Ratcliff Architects is responsible for the design, though plans have not been shared.

The pre-application describes the new construction as adding an 8,000-square-foot building for the Children’s Crisis Residential Program and the Enhanced Short-Term Residential Therapeutic Program. The structure will contain eight bedrooms, kitchens, living space, and offices. An existing facility will be renovated to accommodate a ten-seat Partial Hospitalization Program.

Seneca Family of Agencies, formerly known as Seneca Center, was established in 1985 as a residential and day treatment program focused on serving children and families. The organization has since grown to serve across California and Washington State with housing, mental health assistance, education, and juvenile justice aid.

Further details about the site’s future design and programming have yet to be formalized, as is common for a preliminary application. The property was the former home of the Holy Redeemer Center.

The project team has yet to reply to a request for comment.
