The Santa Clara Housing Authority, Eden Housing, and Core Companies have been jointly responsible for the planning and development of a large-scale project located at 675 East Santa Clara Street, near Downtown San Jose. The multi-acre site will encompass a variety of projects to be developed over multiple phases. One of the projects, named Trillium Senior Housing, took a major step forward this week with the posting of a Notice of Exemption allowing the building to expedite its environmental approvals.

The building is the Trillium Senior Apartments, which will consist of 64 senior housing units. The building plan faces northward onto East Saint John Street in three articulated bays connected by multistory walkways between them. The apartments will consist of single-bedroom senior living facilities and general building amenities. Two building courtyards will be partially enclosed by the building design, providing shared outdoor spaces for the facility.

The building’s location gives it access to the commercial areas in and around downtown San Jose and San Jose State University. Additionally, the total project at 675 East Santa Clara Street is planned to include multiple open space amenities within a short walk. Trillium Senior Apartments does not yet have a clear start date for construction, but the larger site is already seeing movement.
