Preliminary permits have been filed for a massive townhouse development at 3625 Peterson Way in Santa Clara, Santa Clara County. The application is a shift away from prior office permits by Boston Properties. SummerHill Homes is responsible for the pre-application.

The previous development pursued by Boston Properties was expected to create nearly 700,000 square feet of office space and parking for over two thousand cars.

The latest residential proposal is expected to add around 292 townhouse-style condominiums across 48 structures. The development would achieve a residential density of over twenty dwellings per acre across the 14.5-acre property. Further information about the architecture team and design has not been released. The pre-application invokes Senate Bill 330 to streamline the approval process.

The prior two-story commercial structure was demolished about four years ago. The sprawling property is situated near the Santa Clara Square shopping mall, located at the corner of Scott Boulevard and Bowers Avenue. The Lawrence Caltrain Station is located under two miles, or a ten-minute bicycle ride.

The estimated cost and timeline for construction have yet to be shared.
