The new campus for San Francisco University High School at 3150 California Street in Lower Pacific Heights is now complete. The three-story facility includes a range of indoor and outdoor spaces to improve student education within a Net Zero energy complex. Leddy Maytum Stacy Architects is responsible for the design, with construction by Truebeck and Equity Community Builders as the project manager.

The three-story structure provides a spread of uses across 48,000 square feet. This includes classrooms, STEM learning spaces, community gathering spaces, food services, faculty rooms, and outdoor common areas. The site consists of a 10,500 square foot multi-purpose gymnasium with double-height ceilings and bleacher seating. The facility was designed to meet Net Zero Energy Standards and is expected to receive LEED-Platinum certification.
“The UHS project is a model for sustainable, state-of-the art, K-12 building, campus teaching and learning,” said Grant Ricks, Truebeck Project Executive. This latest facility is now the fifth building within the SFUHS urban campus, with the South Building a block away and the remaining sites clustered together three to four blocks away. SFUHS was founded in 1975 as a private neighborhood school.

The school first filed plans for the site in June 2020, with approval granted in late 2022, and groundbreaking by June 2023. Crews celebrated the topping out ceremony in May 2024, and construction work was complete by July this year.
