Updated permits have been filed for a private student housing project at 6801 Elvas Avenue in East Sacramento, close to the city’s California State University campus. The proposal is looking to replace a low-slung commercial site with 165 apartments. The application was published by the city’s planning department.
The prospective developer and applicant are not specified in the initial filing. The application does state that the private student housing will create approximately 600 beds across 165 units, averaging between three and four beds per dwelling. The dorm-style complex will help address CSU Sacramento’s growing student population. The school is just under ten minutes away on foot.
The roughly 1.37-acre property is located at the corner of Elvas Avenue and Folsom Boulevard. Future residents will be close to a grocery store-anchored retail center. Further information about the project scale or architectural approach is not specified. Demolition will be required for the currently vacant commercial building and surface parking, formerly occupied by Building Supply Inc.
Public records show the property owner as Folsom Elvas LLC, having purchased the site in 2014.
