A large property at 3905 Freedom Circle has remained vacant despite existing approvals for a comprehensive apartment plan. In 2023, SF YIMBY reported on the property’s sale to Cerberus Capital Management, with plans to develop the property under its existing plan. However, with the property still not underway, the developers are now proposing minor modifications to the original plan before construction begins.
In total, the site will consist of a three-building master plan, creating 1,075 new residential units and a two-acre public park. The buildings will be constructed in three phases, with the central building first, followed by the southern and then the northern sites. Across all buildings, unit types will be broken down into 170 studios, 597 one-bedrooms, and 308 two-bedrooms. Building B will also include approximately 2000 square feet of retail space on the ground floor.

Studio T Square is the project’s planner and architect. BKF is the civil engineer, and RHAA is the Landscape Architect. Likely facade materials will include cement plaster, fiber cement, porcelain tile, and pastel hues. Each of the buildings will offer independent amenities to its residents, including a club room, fitness center, co-working lounge, and pool decks.

The project’s location is in northern Santa Clara, near Mission College and California’s Great America Park. That particular area of the South Bay has seen a more recent uptick in development for residential projects, and is starting to develop greater accessibility. New residents will be a short drive from a wide variety of employment, entertainment, and shopping options. However, there are more limited options for public transportation. To that end, developers plan to include 1,413 new parking spaces on-site for residential and commercial use.

Was about to applaud multi-family housing not being built directly on top of a highway… Then saw it on the map.
At least a majority of the units get shielded by the southern folks, sacrificing clean air and noise pollution.
1,000 units is no small feat, and at least there’s some green space along the creek. But did we seriously need a full-sized perimeter road? That’s so much extra heat-island effect along a walking path. CA building code hates sensible design. It should be a 1-way tree-lined shared road at a minimum.
Don’t worry that much about the ‘clean air’. A significant percentage of cars in that area are EVs.
Tires still exist… No matter the vehicle engine, those suckers are wearing down into our lungs.
