Permits have been filed for a duplex conversion of an existing tract house at 1828 25th Avenue in San Francisco’s Sunset District. The small project would split the existing single-family house close to the Sunset Reservoir Park and several shops along Noriega Street. The property owner is listed as a local individual.
The proposal will require minimal internal demolition, and the street-facing facade will be unaltered. The project will split the structure into a compact three-bedroom rear accessory dwelling unit and a two-bedroom second-floor dwelling unit.
Public records show the existing structure was built in 1939 by an unknown architect and builder.
The narrow property is located along 25th Avenue between Noriega Street and Ortega Street, half a block from the Sunset Reservoir Park, and six blocks from Golden Gate Park. Future residents will be close to a small retail thoroughfare along Noriega Street.
The estimated cost and timeline for construction have not yet been shared.
