Development and financial staff from High Street Residential and Barings recently celebrated the groundbreaking of a two-part development site located at 1555 El Camino Real in Redwood City. The sizable project will consist of two separate buildings, totaling over 500 new units of housing for the site.
Both buildings will consist of a multifamily structure with common circulation areas and community amenities. The first building will retain the address of 1555 El Camino Real, and it will include 252 units. The building will also include 5,277 square feet of ground-floor retail. Meanwhile, the second building will be located at 113 Beech Street, with a similar 249 units. Both communities will include studios to three-bedroom units. A portion of all unit sizes will be reserved for affordable housing.
Both buildings will include several community amenities, such as rooftop decks, lounges, clubrooms, resort-style pools, spas, covered parking, and coworking space. Both communities will also enjoy immediate access to green space.
Aerial Renderings of the site show two similarly styled podium designs, each broken into several massing forms to reduce the overall building blockiness. The building’s height and general design features are consistent with surrounding buildings, but the façade will be in a more modern and updated style. Façade colors appear to favor grey and brown, with portions of green.
The site is located in a formerly industrial/commercial area between El Camino Real and the Caltrain tracks in the central area of Redwood City. Future residents will be able to easily reach the Redwood City Caltrain station for their commutes, and they will have access to several types of nearby commercial retail options.
