Affordable Housing For LGBTQ Seniors Comes To 1616 F Street In Sacramento

A new affordable housing project has been approved for development at 1616 F Street in Sacramento. The project proposal includes the development of an LGBTQ-friendly housing community for seniors at affordable rates. The project application requests commercial paln review.

Sacramento-based non-profit Mutual Housing California is the project developer. Mogavero Architects is responsible for the design concepts.

Named Lavender Courtyard, the affordable housing project is Central Valley’s first affordable housing community for LGBTQ seniors. The  $18.8-million community offers 53 residential units in a four-story apartment building.

Lavender Courtyard is a 32,200-square-foot, Zero Net Energysf building on a vacant infill lot in Midtown and caters to residents ages 62 and older. The housing complex has partnered with service providers including Servant Heart, the Sacramento LGBT Community Center, and One Community Health to ensure seniors have access to health care and social services.

The project site is situated at the intersection of 16th and F Streets. Edit: Lavender Courtyard broke ground in early 2022.
