Demolition has cleared the parcel for Mariposa Place, a seven-story affordable housing infill at 750 West San Carlos Street by San Jose’s Diridon Station. The project will create 80 new homes for low-income and permanent supportive housing. Danco Group, a Humboldt County-based firm, is the project developer.

The 85-foot tall structure will rise from a 0.4-acre lot Unit sizes will vary with 56 one-bedrooms, 23 two-bedrooms, and one manager’s unit. Of that, 40 will be for permanent supportive housing for special needs homeless households, and 39 will be for low-income residents. Amenities will include the lounge, community kitchen, fitness center, and on-site laundry.

SGPA Architecture and Planning is responsible for the design. The podium-style exterior will be articulated with white, blue, and brown forms. Construction will be 50 stories of wood over a two-floor concrete podium, and parking will be included at ground level.

The property is located along San Carlos next to 808 West Apartments. Residents will also find nearby the multi-phase residential project by Swenson and Republic Urban Properties. New renderings were released in May this year for the third and final phase, a 12-story apartment complex at 860 West San Carlos Street.
The development was estimated to cost around $52 million, with completion by 2024.
