Demolition permits have been submitted for a 2018 Blake Street in South Berkeley, Alameda County. The project proposal includes the demolition of a detached garaged on the site that was damaged in a fire. After demolition, the project site is slated to be developed with a six-story residential infill.
Tripalink is the project developer. DNM Architecture is responsible for the design, taking over plans from the San Francisco-based Fifth Arch. RW Stover and Associates is responsible for the landscape architecture.
The project site is a parcel spanning an area of 0.12 acres. The scope of work includes the demolition of the garage and construction of 12 co-living apartments in two structures divided by a ground-level courtyard. The 61-foot tall structure will yield around 12,630 square feet, with 12,630 square feet for housing and 155 square feet for the 19-bicycle parking room. Unit sizes will vary with one studio, five four-bedrooms, and six five-bedrooms.
Usable open space spanning 2,433 square feet will also be developed to offer ground-floor landscape, patio areas and two roof decks. The project will offer a 17-space bike room and two outdoor bike racks.
A preliminary application was submitted for review and approval earlier this year. An estimated construction timeline has not been announced yet.
The site is located on Blake Street between Shattuck Avenue and Milvia Street. The southwest corner of the UC Berkeley Campus is just seven blocks away, with the Downtown BerkeleyBART Station just one block further, or 12 minutes on foot.
